The Nameless Dread

 

Well, the gateway to Mediafire seems to be closed temporarily, so I must improvise tonight's entertainment.  I thought this timely with the passing of Bil Keane, creator of the widely loathed Family Circus.  Though numerous parodies of his maudlin creation existed, often with his blessing, only the now-defunct Nameless Dread was actively suppressed, presumably after touching some dark nerve in Keane's soul.  Fortunately I have many of them preserved in my private archive and now I shall pass them along to you, dear ones.  Presumably normal transmissions will resume tomorrow. 

Necronauts

Another forgotten tome of hideous beauty, Necronauts is the story of noted paranormal pioneer Charles Fort teaming up with Harry Houdini, H.P. Lovecraft, and Arthur Conan Doyle to battle dark forces from outside the universe. The story is a real ripper and the Frazier Irving art is just stunning.

Secret of San Saba

Legendary underground cartoonist Jack Jackson wrote and drew this excellent Lovecraftian tale of cosmic horror amid the arid deserts of Texas during the first clashes between the natives and the Spanish missionaries. A dense, beautiful, horrific work - just ripe for the plucking.

Baby's First Mythos

Not normally one to buy into the cutesyfying of the Mythos, I nonetheless was charmed by this little booklet of ABC's designed to help rear little monsters properly. This is a scan of the old black-and-white handmade edition; the book has recently been re-issued in color (and "now with X!") and is available for purchase elsewhere.

Hyperborea

No music today, deaf and dumb ones, but another variety of morbid treat awaits you, burbling up from the depths. This is a picture-book adaptation of Clark Ashton Smith's short story Hyperborea, featuring the first appearance of the Mythos's loathsome toad god Tsathoggua. Apparently this was printed in a very small run and thus remains below the threshold of public consciousness, making prime material for the Swamp.
